Odds and Ends

Greetings True Believers, FFanatics, Plazaheads, Richards Ruvvers, or whatever other pet name you prefer, I hope you're all doing well.

I wanted to stop by and mention a few things:

1.) I have been putting off blogging due to real life commitments mostly, but a lot of the delay can be blamed on having to review issue 388. Seriously, it's that bad...so stay tuned I guess. But in all reality, it looks like I won't be here too much until the end of next month (May), when summer starts and I really won't have anything to do but sit around and read comics. I'm hoping to do a lot of work here on the site, including some catch up reviews of the "Staying Current" feature. Jonathan Hickman just pulled a Geoff Johns sized retcon on the Inhumans last issue (577) and it's kind of crazy. Coupled with his (seemingly) complete annihilation of Nu-World, this guy is just flat out steam rolling his way into FF history...and my heart.

2.) In a follow up story to one of my earlier posts, it was announced this weekend at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (or C2E2) that Marvel is going to put out some kind of Fantastic Four related story called "3". This is my speculation here, but it may have something to do with Ben Grimm being announced as one of the New Avengers not too long ago. Or it could be some kind of team up between Franklin, Valeria, and Lockjaw. Fantastic 3...where's the alliteration in that?

3.) Dale Eaglesham, artist extraordinaire on the current run of FF comics, will be leaving the book to do a project that stars (and stripes) Steve Rogers (the former Captain America) with writer Ed Brubaker.

4.) Because I have yet to reveal this online, I did in fact finish all of the Heroes Reborn: Fantastic Four trade paperback. Your adulation and commendations can be sent via the comment section on this very site. Many a man has stared down the 12 issues contained in the book, only to be bored to the point of insanity and or no return. While I did falter and stumble in the face of such sheer mid-90's ridiculousness, I picked myself up, gritted my teeth, and took in every awkward moment of the half baked storyline. I'd like to say that I'm a better person for it, but no, Heroes Reborn doesn't work like that.

Well, 4 points seems cliched enough for a stopping point. So until this blog has a billion followers, Vive le Fantastique!

  1. the four issue "heroes return" book by Peter David and Salvador Larocca was good i thought. The trick to reading the #12 issues of the Heroes reborn stuff is that you have to read all four of the titles. It's like alternate versions of that alternate reality if that makes any scene. ya not to me either.

  2. I had no idea that Dale Eaglesham was leaving the book. :( I just got into the current FF book and I'm loving it! The team of Hickman and Eaglesham is what sold me on it. I hope the replacement artist is good.

    Nice blog here!

  3. Yeah, Shag, I think Eaglesham's last issue was 578, which was the Negative Zone story. I believe Neil Edwards is the regular artist for the time being, and his art is very similar to Eaglesham's.

  4. Kello - Thanks for the heads-up. Here's hoping it continues to be fantastic! Pun intended. :)
